In this helpful video from North Creek Dental Care, we talk about two important topics: mouth guards for kids and what to do if a tooth gets knocked out during sports or play.
First, if your child is active in sports, an over-the-counter boil-and-bite mouth guard is a great option, as long as it fits well and covers all tooth surfaces. As your child grows, be sure to size up and ensure a snug, comfortable fit.
Next, we cover an important emergency tip:
If a permanent tooth is knocked out (tooth avulsion) and you can see the root, rinse it gently and place it back into the socket. Have your child bite down to keep it in place until you can get to the dental office.
Primary (baby) teeth don’t need to be replanted, but you should still call us for guidance.
