4 Tips To Cutting Down Sugary Snacking For Your Oral Health

Sugary snacking can harm your teeth and your overall health. Limiting sugar intake is good for your entire body, including your mouth. Here are our 4 tips for cutting down sugary snacking and living an overall healthier life!

  1. Cut out sugary drinks. Drinks can add unnecessary calories and can be packed full of sugar. Sports drinks, soda, and juice are all large sources of unwanted sugar. Do not be fooled to believe that juice is a healthy source of fruit for yourself or your children. Replace these sugary drinks with water, milk and unsweetened tea.
  2. Remove candy from your sight. Candy bowls lingering on your table or kitchen counter can lead to temptation. Out of sight, out of mind is a good phrase to remember when considering bringing candy into your home.
  3. Curb your cravings with fruit. Instead of having candy, cookies or other sugar filled snacks, grab some fruit instead. An apple with natural nut butter is a great snack that can help curb sugar cravings and add fruit to your diet.
  4. Indulge your sweet tooth with some delicious snack alternatives such as a low-sugar homemade smoothie, plain yogurt with honey or a low-sugar protein bar.

Taking care of your health can also lead to better oral health. Cutting out some sources of sugar from your diet as well as brushing and flossing your teeth regularly can lead to stronger, healthier teeth and less risk of decay or disease!
